Seneca Steel Erectors, Inc. (SSEI) plans to start a new operation in an existing Darlington facility. It's expected to create 15 jobs.
The company bought the former 4,200-square foot ELB Enterprises building at 700 E. McIver Road.
Seneca Steel fixes and maintains stoker systems for industrial boilers.
The company says it already has relationships with numerous companies in the region, such as International Paper, Georgia Pacific, R.J. Reynolds and RockTenn.
"This new operation will reduce our transportation costs and improve our customer service," said Dale Campbell, Seneca Steel Erectors, Inc. President, in a news release. "It will also allow us to be more competitive in the southeastern market and grow our business."
"By utilizing a mobile repair team with specialized stoker workers, Seneca Steel can reduce a company's downtime while providing considerable financial savings," said Robert Long, Darlington County Economic Development Partnership Executive Director.
