Kids get new leaders in Horry County Schools

Horry County Schools announced administrative appointments at four schools for the 2012-13 school year, effective July 1, 2012.
Janet Lawrence-Patten will be the new principal at Aynor High School. She is now serving her second year as an assistant principal at North Myrtle Beach High School, and has worked in Horry County Schools since 1999 as a teacher, curriculum coach and administrator. She has degrees from Coastal Carolina University and Capella University. Lawrence-Patten will replace Daryl Brown, recently named the District's executive director for student affairs for next year.
Dr. Renn Dominguez will be the new program administrator at the District's Scholars Academy on the Coastal Carolina University campus. She comes to the District from Rutherford County, North Carolina Schools, where she served as director of secondary schools for the past five years and was principal at the Rutherford Early College as part of her 27-year career in education. She has degrees from the University of Houston, University of Texas-Pan American, and Gardner-Webb University. Dominguez will replace Joe Dowling, currently serving as interim program administrator.
Two current principals will be transferring to different schools next year.
Robbie Watkins will be the new principal at Aynor Middle School, transferring from Whittemore Park Middle School where he has been principal since 2006. Watkins will replace Milton Frink who requested a transfer to another position in the District for next year.
Judy Beard will be the new principal at Whittemore Park Middle School, transferring from Loris Middle School where she has been principal since 2005. Beard, the current State Middle School Principal of the Year, will replace Robbie Watkins.
