Congressman Tim Scott spoke to a group of business leaders Friday, addressing what he thinks will help the Grand Strand economy.
Scott spoke at a luncheon at Prince Resort on the north end of the strand. He represents South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, encompassing Horry, Georgetown and Charleston counties.
He's proposing a 20 percent tax cut for businesses with 500 employees or fewer.
He also expressed his concern for hotels having to meet the new Americans with Disabilities Act to put pool lifts in all public pools.
"I really don't understand why the federal government continues to put its hands in so many pies without realizing what it takes to create pie or make the pie," Rep. Scott said.
Scott says he agrees with the ADA regulation, but hotels need more lenient ways to meet the requirements.
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce invited him to the luncheon.
