A bill that would kill Horry County's flow control ordinance has passed on the House floor.

The county ordinance mandates all waste collected in the county be dumped at the Solid Waste Authority landfill in the county.

Late Wednesday, the bill banning that passed with a 73 to 29 vote, according to the state House website.

More than 60 House members sponsored the bill.

Supporters of flow control say the county would lose millions of dollars in revenue if the bill passes.

The state Senate has a similar bill, SB 514. For that to become law, the Senate would need to pass its bill and another committee would have to settle any differences between that and the House bill.
