Power was restored to Aynor Elementary School and Aynor High School at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The outage, that affected 1,200 Progress Energy customers in Horry and Marion counties, was caused by equipment failure to an overhead line, according to spokeswoman Lauren Bradford.

Progress Energy was notified of the outage at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

70 customers remain without power as of 11:15 a.m., but Bradford said power should be restored within the hour.

Students who arrived Aynor Elementary and High schools prior to the power being restored were supervised, others didn't have to arrive until 9 a.m.

The school day is continuing as scheduled.
