Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, a man was robbed as he was walking on Oakland Avenue in North Florence.

Florence police say a 14-year-old boy approached the man while holding a gun.

Officers say the teen ordered the man to give up all the cash he had.

The man told the boy he didn't have any money, and officers say the teen stuck his hand in the man's pocket and stole $60.

The man called 911.

Police say there were other teenagers standing behind an apartment building nearby but they didn't take part in the robbery.

Police tracked down the teen and charged him with strong armed robbery.

He was taken to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice where he is expected to be held for 48 hours.

At that time, he will be brought back to Florence for a hearing to determine if he should be released to the custody of his parents.
