CCU football attendance increased, peaked in Bennett's final season

Many questions still loom over the sudden firing of Coastal Carolina University's football coach David Bennett.

University officials claimed a decline in ticket sales and a diminished interest in the CCU football program were major factors in Bennett's termination.

David DeCenzo, on the night of Bennett's firing, said, "Our attendance at games has fallen sharply; we sell about 50 percent of our available tickets. It is imperative that we find a way to create excitement around our program, attract more fans to Brooks Stadium, and increase our revenues to offset our expenditures."

The Carolina Forest Chronicle did a review of attendance figures and found a 24% increase home football game attendance since 2009. Click here to read more of the Carolina Forest Chronicles article.
