Three people are in the hospital after a fire overnight Monday in Conway.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a call around 12:30 Monday morning on Academy Road off Highway 501 in Conway, said Asst. Chief Justin Gibbins, with Horry County Fire Rescue. Conway Fire assisted in the call.

Originally police and an ambulance were dispatch because the 911 caller was confused and it wasn't until later, they learned there was a fire, Gibbons said.

When crews arrived on the scene, a man, a woman, and their son were outside, and showed signs of smoke inhalation. They were taken to Conway Medical Center.

The house remains in tact, but fire crews say the main damage was in the family's kitchen.

Gibbins says unattended cooking materials caused the fire.
