Florence County Sheriff's Office Corporal Chad Reid and his K-9 partner, Kim, were named the National K-9 Interdiction Team of the Year for 2011 by the American Police Canine Association (APCA).

The award was presented to Reid and Kim at the APCA annual awards banquet on September 29, 2011 in Hobart, Indiana.

Reid and Kim received the award because of the August 4, 2011 seizure of 106 kilos (233 pounds) of pure cocaine hidden in a moving company tractor-trailer traveling on Interstate 95.

The seizure was the largest in Florence County history and the second largest in South Carolina.

The estimated street value was over $10,000,000.
