MYRTLE BEACH -- Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres says troopers charged Christopher Michael Pesce, 40, of Little River with Failure to Stop for Blue Light, Speeding and Driving Under Suspension.
Cpl. Beres says the chase happened at 7:20 a.m. on Highway 31 near Robert Grissom Boulevard. He says the trooper clocked Pesce going 103 in a 65 mile per hour zone. When the trooper tried to pull him over, a pursuit ensued. It lasted only a couple of minutes. Troopers say Pesce then side-swiped a Buick.
Pesce was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Cpl. Beres says he was not wearing a helmet. When he's released from the hospital, Pesce will be taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
The people in the Buick were not hurt.
