Three dogs were taken to the Animal Care Center in Conway last February because of neglect or abuse. As of Tuesday, two of the dogs were adopted. The third, Butch, would have been put down within days if he didn't find a home.
The Animal Care Center told us Wednesday, a family in Florence took Butch home.
"I am very excited to say that Butch just left for his new home in Florence. All three are now in homes thanks to everyone's very hard work and dedication to saving lives," said Horry County Animal Care Center Operations Manager Kelly Bonome in a press release.
She continued, "If that wasn't enough, two heartworm positive dogs are being rescued along with several other adoptions yesterday and today because of the media attention. We have also spoken with other shelters and will continue to work together toward a common goal of finding every adoptable animal a home."
Butch, a pit bull mix, was severely malnourished. He was brought into the shelter with Sasha, who was also malnourished.
Butch was so bad, he was deemed too aggressive for our cameras to see at first. On a second visit to the Animal Care Center, he was healthier and more playful with care center workers. Now, he finally has a new home.
