It has been more than two years since he disappeared in South America, apparently going on a hike in the Appalachian trail but actually courting his Argentinian mistress in Buenos Aires who he later called his 'soul mate'.

And unlike the other doomed extra-marital affairs of disgraced politicians like John Edwards and even Bill Clinton, it appears Mark Sanford may have been right, as he is still with journalist Maria Belen Chapur.

Speaking to CNN's Piers Morgan about the scandal that brought down his career, he said that he has many regrets from the time, particularly regarding his children and the hurt he caused.
