State troopers are investigating a deadly accident in Georgetown County.

It happened on highway 701, about 19 miles north of Georgetown, at 3:35 a.m. Saturday.

Coroner Kenny Johnson says the victim is 20-year-old Gershon Grier.

The Highway Patrol says Grier was traveling south on highway 701 in a 2005 Honda Civic when he ran off the left side of the road, hit a guard rail, then a tree.

Grier was thrown from the car.

No other cars were involved.
