The teenager who shot at a school resource officer last September will receive his sentence Wednesday.

Christian Helms, 15, entered an Alford plea for attempted murder, which means he acknowledges the state has enough evidence to find him guilty, but he does not admit guilt. He pleaded guilty to bringing bombs to Socastee High School.

Last September, Helms fired a shot that narrowly missed School Resource Officer Erik Karney, and he brought three homemade pipe bombs to school.

Wednesday, the principal, vice principal, a bookkeeper and Officer Karney's wife testified in the sentencing hearing.

Helms could get up to 30 years for the attempted murder charge and 15 years for each of the two the bomb charges.
