In Tuesday night's meeting, Horry County Council will discuss and vote on final plans to redistrict the county.
Horry County Public Information Officer Lisa Bourcier says after minor adjustments to the second reading of the redistricting map were made at the last meeting, the council is expected to agree on this map at its third and final reading tonight at 6 p.m. in Conway.
"Once the council can agree on this map, it will be sent to the U.S. Department of Justice for final approval," says Bourcier. She says the map must be finalized before the June 2012 primaries.
Also at the meeting Tuesday, the new Waccamaw EOC Director is expected to introduce himself to the council. James Pasley Jr. has served as Executive Director since April 4th. Former EOC Director Louise Cooper stepped down after controversy surrounding the organizations financial practices.
The meeting also includes a third and final reading of an Horry County ordinance that will force solicitors collecting from donations from cars to apply for a special permit. "This is a matter of safety for us and the people collecting donations," says Bourcier. The ordinance only applies to unincorporated areas of the county.
