Escaped inmate back in custody

Horry County officials have caught Jeremy Jaquan Griffin after they say he escaped from J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Horry County officials have caught Jeremy Jaquan Griffin.

Griffin, 24, escaped from J. Reuben Long Detention Center July 8th around 10 p.m.

Myrtle Beach police received a tip that Griffin was at an apartment complex on Willow Run Drive. They secured a perimeter around the complex while the Horry County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals entered the apartment and arrested Griffin.

A woman in the apartment was arrested. Charges are pending.

Griffin escaped by jumping over the razor wire fence surrounding the detention center's grounds. The location where he escaped was a blind spot in J. Reuben's surveillance videoGriffin was serving a 90 day jail sentence for failure to appear in court for driving under a suspended license on the third or subsequent time. He will now likely face federal charges and five years in a state prison.
