In search of Matthew McConaughey

Vicki Benton is a mother of 5, a wife, and she likes actor Matthew Mcconaughey.

"I love his Texas accent. I love his movies," says Benton.

While film crews are shooting scenes to the HBO series "Eastbound and Down" in Myrtle Beach, the Litchfield resident is seeking him out, and by "him", she means the man she calls only by his first name, Matthew.

"I'm going to find Matthew," she says. "Today is the day."

Since Tuesday, she's driven around town in her silver minivan trying to catch even the slightest glimpse of the man she gets butterflies just thinking about.

"I hope I don't freak out too bad. I don't know if I'm going to run and jump in his arms or what. I'm pretty excited, my heart's pounding."

During her quest, she hasn't shied away from anyone to get a closer look, asking security guards if they've seen Matthew, and even telling little white lies to people near the trailers parked at BB&T Coastal Field.

"I'm an extra, and I just wanted to know when I was suppose to be here." Benton tried out for an extra Tuesday but hasn't received a callback.

She says meeting McConaughey in Myrtle Beach is fate. "I feel it out of all the movie stars. There's some hot celebrities but I have that connection with Matthew. He's the only one."

Along with traveling to Pelican's stadium, she drove around Broadway at the Beach and along Ocean Boulevard with both eyes scanning in each direction.

But even though her search turned up disappointing this day, she says there's still hope and as long as they're still filming.

"If not today, I'll come back tomorrow."
