Florence County sheriff's deputies say an armed robbery suspect fled the scene after being shot by the victim.

It happened just after 6:45 Thursday evening at the Dollar General on Howe Springs Road.

Captain Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff's Office says the victim was sitting in his car in the store parking lot when a man with a gun tried to rob him. Nunn says the victim shot the robber, who then fled the scene wounded.

The suspect was later found at an area hospital. Investigators say his handgun was found at the scene.

The victim is a holder of a valid Concealed Weapons Permit and was not injured in the attack.

Police have not released the name of the suspect. His condition has also not been released. 

No charges have been filed.  The investigation into this case continues.
