The state is seeking the death penalty against a Pee Dee man accused of stabbing a woman 37 times in front of her two children.

Thomas Stewart, 40, is charged with killing 25-year-old Bellannie Clyburn last year in Pageland.

Deputy Solicitor Adam Foard says because of the way he physically tortured her, they're seeking the death penalty against Stewart.
