One man escaped a house fire unharmed Thursday night.

The fire happened at a home in Wild Wing Plantation.

The call came in at 8:20 pm and about 20 minutes later the fire was contained.

The homeowner says he was cooking at the time of the fire.

Officials say there's heavy damage in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the house.

A dog inside was rescued by firefighters.

There was no threat to nearby homes.
