Two people shot in Scotland County, fourth shooting in three days

Just after 12:30 Tuesday morning, someone called the Scotland County 911 Communications about gun shots fired on Mills Street in Laurinburg, NC  at the Duncan Smith Apartments. 

When officers arrived to the scene, police say shots were still being fired.

Detective Chris Young with Laurinburg Police tells NewsChannel 15 a man approached them saying he had been shot in the chest.

He was immediately taken by EMS to the Scotland Memorial Hospital where he remains. His condition is not being released at this time.

Young says another person who had been shot in the chest and leg showed up at the hospital. Officers believe he was also shot at the apartment. He was taken to the Charlotte Medical Center.

Detective Young says they're still investigating to determine what happened and if the shooting actually took place at the apartments.

He says right now they're not getting much help from witnesses.

This is the fourth shooting incident in Laurinburg in the last three days.

This past weekend, two men were shot and killed in a parking lot of of Main Street in Laurinburg.

At this time, investigators don't believe the two shootings are connected.
