You can expect to hear pretty much every type of music from the headliners who are planning to perform at the new Pat Boone Family Theater in Myrtle Beach, from country to pop to gospel.
"We've talked to folks like the Oak Ridge Boys and B.J. Thomas and of course, Pat and Debbie Boone. A lot of different variety of people we've talked to and it's kind of funny, they're very anxious to come to Myrtle Beach," Rod Burton, gospel music artist and the theater's new General Manager, said.
Management staff with Liquid Metal Productions, LLC, the new owner, revealed plans for the theater during a press conference Thursday. The building sits on the corner of 21st Avenue North and Highway 17 Bypass and used to house the NASCAR Cafe. With the thousands of cars passing by the theater on a daily basis, Burton says it's the perfect location to catch the attention of people of all ages.
"Of course the beach goers and golfers are going to love this show. We have some fantastic things planned for Christmas that I don't think Myrtle Beach has seen yet," Burton said.
Magician Morgan Strebler will be the theater's resident artist. He is a world-class illusionist and mentalist who will perform three shows, six days a week in peak season with interactive, unique and 'mind-bending' illusions.
All of the shows will be family friendly with ticket prices ranging from $24 to $34 for adults and $7 for kids.
The shows are booked, headliners revealed and demolition is underway. The building looks the same on the outside, but major changes are underway on the inside. "We're looking to open as soon as we can. We're targeting the beginning of August. A lot of that will depend on getting the permitting and a lot of the construction that needs to be done, but things are going really well," Burton said.
