South Carolina drivers who've lost their driving privileges will have the opportunity to reduce or clear their suspensions during the Department of Motor Vehicles' 2011 Amnesty Week.
Seventeen DMV offices across the state will recognize Amnesty Week from Mon. May 16 - Fri. May 20.
The program is offered for drivers who were suspended for operating an unlicensed taxi or vehicle or operating an uninsured vehicle they didn't own. Drivers who were suspended for driving under suspension (excluding convictions that are related to drugs or alcohol) and drivers under the age of 18 who were suspended for excessive points are also eligible for the program.
This is the first time the DMV has offered an amnesty program.
