GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A bear sighting has disrupted schools in Greenville County for the second day in a row.

Authorities say students were sent home early Wednesday afternoon from Southside High Academy after a bear was seen near the school.

The day before, a bear sighting kept students inside the school, as well as nearby Thomas E. Kerns Elementary.

The Department of Natural Resources is sending officers to the area to check on the bear.

Calls about bears near neighborhoods are not uncommon in spring as the animals emerge from hibernation.
