Myrtle Beach City Councilman Mike Chestnut won't officially file until the summer, but says he's starting early to let the community know he's serious about running.

Many gathered Friday at a local restaurant to support Chestnut, including several council members and Mayor John Rhodes.

The Myrtle Beach native is at the end of his third, four year term with city council and says he prides himself on addressing everyone's concerns or putting them in the right direction.

"I'm accessible, I'm available and I'm ready to listen to their concerns and I think that's important anytime you got someone who wants to get into government."

Phil Render and Susan Grissom-Means are also up for re-election. All Myrtle Beach council seats are at-large. Election day is November 1, 2011.
