A Georgetown man ticketed for maintaining a public nuisance is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
David Parks, Sr. was issued a ticket by a city police officer in March for feeding stray cats in a parking lot next to the Georgetown Food Lion.
Maintaining a public nuisance carries a fine of up to $1,000 or 30 days in jail.
In a statement, Parks said he would stop feeding the cats in city limits until he goes to court to resolve the ticket. He also requested a jury trial.
Do you think $1,000 fine or 30 days in jail is a fair punishment for a charge of maintaining a public nuisance? Please leave a comment below.
