(AP) -- CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - They're talking travel in Charleston this week as the annual Governor's Conference on Travel and Tourism gets underway.
Industry leaders gather Monday for sessions on everything from getting the tourism message out to taking advantage of the changed business climate that's expected to follow the recession.
Gov. Nikki Haley and U.S. Rep. Tim Scott will address the meeting Tuesday during an awards luncheon.
During the three-day meeting, conference participants will be able to tour places from downtown Charleston to the plantations surrounding the city.
Tourism is one of the leading industries in South Carolina, pumping an estimated $18.4 billion into the economy each year.
