Whether you're a puppy bowl fan or a football fan, two pregame events have both parties satisfied.

Nearly 1,000 people attended a Superbowl Barbeque Throwdown at the Marlin Quay Marina in Garden City Sunday afternoon. Executive chefs from local restaurants rated the best barbeque from Danny's BBQ, Turbo's BBQ of Darlington, and Charlie Daniels from Statesville, NC.

All of the proceeds went to Coastal Animal Rescue, an all-volunteer, no-kill, cage-free shelter.

"It's very profitable for the shelter." spokesperson Karen Nierengarten said. "No one gets paid, so it goes straight to the animals."

The shelter had pups on hand for people to adopt. They received adoption applications for two dogs. This is the second year for the fundraiser.

Officials say if you couldn't make it out, but are interested in adoption to call them at (843) 685-2851 or to log onto their website.

North on Highway 17, Steeler's bar Oscar's held a pregame party. The North Myrtle Beach bar boasts itself as Steeler's country, but a few brave Packers fans came to the event too.

It was all about food, drinks, fun and football Sunday. The bar is expect to reach capacity tonight, owner Carla Williams said. This is the third time in the past six years they've had a Superbowl party.

"Everyone is just so excited and hoping for a great game. We're all beside ourselves," Williams said.
