(AP) -- CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - It seems selling cookies won't be enough to save some property owned by the Girl Scouts in South Carolina.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports budget problems are forcing the Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina to sell four properties, including the 153-acre Camp Low Country in Berkeley County.
Also for sale are buildings in North Charleston and Florence and 400 acres surrounding Camp Sandy Ridge in Bennettsville. The rest of the Sandy Ridge property will be retained to give scouts a place to camp.
Chief executive Loretta Graham says the group has been borrowing each year to keep Camp Low Country operating.
She says scout membership is rebounding but not fast enough to save the properties.
