An average of 50 million people watch the president's State of the Union address on TV. We caught up with two of them.

Carl Schwartzkopf and Anita Moran are a bipartisan politico couple by all accounts. He's a Republican, an Horry County Councilman. She's a Democrat, a past president of the League of Women Voters. The two had varying expectations for the president's State of the Union address Tuesday night. Carl wanted to hear plans for local governments. Anita wanted to hear President Obama motivate the crowd. Both were pleased in differing degrees with the president's performance.

"I don't know what grade I'd give him on sincerity," Schwartzkopf said.

"I think he did great. I'd give him an A," Moran said.

The president made promises for education, health care, and clean energy - something that Anita applauded for.

President Obama asked Congress for 80 percent of America's energy to be clean by 2035.

He also addressed working on illegal immigration on both sides of the political aisle, an issue that South Carolina lawmakers have been looking to crack down on.

Political party disagreements aside, Carl and Anita were somewhat unified during this year's speech. Anita said she thought President Obama was entertaining and got the crowd to give a few standing ovations. Carl said the State of the Union reminded him more of a campaign speech.
