University of South Carolina to recognize King Day

(AP) -- The University of South Carolina has a schedule of events to commemorate the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin is the guest speaker at a breakfast Friday at The Zone at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The MLK Committee is also presenting Martin Luther King Jr. Day Social Justice Awards to individuals who have exemplified King's philosophies through community service, social justice or racial reconciliation.
The university is also holding an annual day of service Monday with service projects throughout Columbia. The Black Law Students Association is holding a legal symposium Tuesday
