According to the National Retail Federation, as of last week a whopping 37 million people hadn't ventured out to stores to shop for Christmas.
Whether you're a stalled shopper, deadline pusher, or just like to dally, stores want your business and will do what they can to entice you - from last minute sales to extended hours.
David and Regina Siegel hope the jewelry at their store is a hit with this crowd. "At first it was very slow and we thought, 'Oh God' you know, but it has increased now that it's getting closer to Christmas very very much."
Reasons for waiting until the final hour depends on whom you ask. Tina Williams was shopping at Coastal Grand Mall Thursday. "It's my first day off of work - so catching last minute sales and had time to do it."
Randy Middleton just likes to procrastinate. "It's crunch time. It's, 'Gotta have something with an urgency to it to get it done.' I like it that way."
But, as the countdown to Christmas ticks away so do the options in stores. Instead of a well thought out gift, many of these shoppers will likely end up just choosing what's available.
One item unaffected by time - gift cards. That's one reason why they're so popular.
The National Retail Federation predicts holiday sales will reach $451 billion this year. That's up more than three percent over last year.
