(AP) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and Charleston Mayor Joe Riley are meeting to discuss improvements in transportation infrastructure based on federal funds.
Rendell, who leads a bipartisan group of elected officials supporting infrastructure investment, meets for a briefing with Riley and local officials on Tuesday.
The main topic of discussion is improvements to correct flooding problems on U.S. 17 on the Charleston peninsula.
In September, Charleston received a $10 million federal stimulus grant for the work on the highway that was built on filled-in creeks and often floods in heavy rains. U.S. 17 is the main north-south route along the South Carolina coast.
