(AP) -- A South Carolina soldier killed in North Korea is being honored 60 years later.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reports that Oconee County veterans held a ceremony this week for Sgt. Ross Hamilton Davis, who was killed in battle on Dec. 2, 1950.
His body was never recovered.
The county veterans council honored his memory with a grave marker in a local cemetery beside his brother.
Council chairman Rick Bethea says he hopes the grave helps bring some closure to the family of a local hero.
Davis joined the Army in 1949 and shipped to Korea in September 1950. He was killed at the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea, during a 17-day battle in freezing conditions.
