A high school student remembers her mother today in an event called "Race to Save Hearts."

Rachel McFall organized a 5K walk Saturday - the day before what would have been her mother's 50th birthday.

When Tamy McFall passed away from a heart attack, Rachel started putting her efforts into the race.

A large crowd of supporters participated in the event at Grand Park in Myrtle Beach.

Rachel is pleased with the today's turnout and says her mother would be pleased, "she would just be so proud and knowing that all of this actually went on and I can just picture her smiling."

Rachel completed the three point one mile race in 25 minutes.

Proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.

Rachel hopes to make the walk an annual event.
