The incident happened late Saturday night in Darlington County.

Officials say deputies responded to a domestic dispute at a home on Wilson Street in Hartsville.

Deputies became involved in a gun fight with a man at the home.

After the fight ended the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of gun shot wounds.

Deputies responding to the incident were not injured.

Officials say it's unclear as to why the suspect began shooting at police.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
