(AP) -- Bob Fulton, the radio voice for South Carolina football and basketball for more than 40 years, has died at his home.
Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said his office was called to Fulton's Lexington home shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday. He didn't have any additional details on the 89-year-old's death.
Fulton called his first South Carolina football game in 1952, and signed off after announcing the 1995 Carquest Bowl, where the Gamecocks picked up their first ever bowl win by beating West Virginia.
Fulton was known for his distinctive booming voice. For years after he retired, he sold fantasy tapes where he used the name of a South Carolina fan and made him the hero of some of the Gamecocks' greatest moments.
