Marion Police tell us a family court judge ruled an 11-year-old boy will stay in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice for the next 45 days, while he undergoes an evaluation.

Two weeks ago, police say he stole two cars in separate incidents and led them on a chase both times.

The first time, officers say the boy led several officers on a ten minute chase around town in a stolen pickup truck.

Police turned him over to the Department of Juvenile Justice, and then he was released to a guardian.

Police say the next day he stole an SUV and led them on another chase lasting about five minutes.

The child was immediately taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia, where he remains.
