This Election Day, there are plenty of reasons for voters to be excited.
On Election Day, you're supposed to be excited about the opportunity to vote. And we found many people who were, like Eric Westover, an Horry County voter. "For me, it's good. I'm happy to get out to vote. I think it's important that everybody gets out to vote."
Debra Gossette had the same view. "That is a wonderful constitutional right. Everybody should take advantage of that."
But this year, more than ever, voters have one more reason to be thrilled that Election Day is here. It means all those irritating campaign ads are finally coming to an end. Right, Lucy Semsey? "Well, yes, that too. That's a biggie. That is really big," she told us at her polling location Tuesday morning.
Carol Shapses won't miss the ads. "Yesterday, I saw about seven in a row. I said, that's it, and I changed to another channel. I couldn't take it anymore."
Debora Gossette says there are so many political ads, the message gets lost. "Information overload. You don't need to know, you don't care, people have already made up their minds. Just quit already!"
You can be happy about your right to vote on Election Day and still be bothered by all the annoying campaign mudslinging that goes along with it says Warren Malitzki. "That's way overboard. They got to stop doing the stuff where they're just kind of talking at each other, trashing each other, instead of what they're standing up for, what they're representing."
There's one more reason to be excited about Election Day. If you're not happy with the way things are going, this is your one chance to make a change.
