No one wants to occupy the space currently held by Nibils Family Restaurant on the Surfside Beach Pier.

About a month ago, for the second time, the city started taking bids for the location.

Tuesday night, council opened the bids to find there aren't any.

Last spring, the restaurant's current owner and an LLC belonging to local TV personality Cecil Chandler, who is employed at WPDE, both bid on the space.

Former town administrator Ed Booth and a former town attorney worked with Chandler on the bid.

After accusations of a conflict of interest, town council members decided to throw out those two bids and re-open bidding.

The current owner of Nibils says they don't feel welcome on the city's pier. Margaret Cahill says, "It's been our family's way of life and the customers, they're our family, but we can just see that every time they keep putting blocks in front of us. We just can't keep climbing over the blocks."

Surfside Beach Mayor Allen Deaton says the town will now decide how to move forward and what to do with the space.
