GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (AP) - Guilford County deputies say a 13-year-old has been charged after being found with two handguns and ammunition at his middle school.

Multiple media outlets reported that the guns and 11 rounds of ammunition were seized from the student's locker at Northern Guilford Middle School. One of the guns was loaded.

The student was not identified and faces two counts of possession of a weapon on school grounds and two counts of theft of a firearm.

Officials say a student told the school resource officer that he had heard two other students talking about guns.

The case is still under investigation.
