Hundreds of people are expected to turn out to the first ever Florence County Stump.
Florence mayor Stephen Wukela is hosting the event at his law firm on Second Loop Road. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Senator Vincent Sheheen and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn plan to attend.
Six other candidates for statewide officers will also take part. "Florence and the Pee Dee region are a critical part of our state and a critical part of our political system and think we ought to have a stump here that highlights the importance of the region," Mayor Wukela said.
The stump gets underway at 6pm Friday evening and will last until 10pm.
There will be free food and live entertainment.
