Horry Georgetown Technical College announced Thursday, its reducing tuition.

Local students will now pay $1,704 in spring 20-11 - about $19 less.

The school made the change to accommodate a mandate from the State Budget and Control Board.

The board said colleges must keep tuition costs low to qualify for building construction.

With the tuition reduction, HGTC can go ahead with the construction of what it calls Building 300, which will house the Early College Program for high school students.
