The lights and cameras of Hollywood have left Georgetown. Production of the film, "The Bay," has wrapped up.
The movie, which was originally named "Isopod," was filmed for the past four weeks in and around Georgetown. The production gave a boost to the local economy, with lots of people renting and spending money in the city.
The movie's production supervisor says South Carolina is a great place to make films, but he says it's imperative a local production base be built up for the industry to really thrive. "There needs to be more trained, local crew base to make fiscal sense to bring a film here. Otherwise, you bring everyone in from out of state and it doesn't work to your advantage," said David Thornsberry.
Thornsberry said unions are working to make that happen, and he would love to come back to the area.
The film could hit theaters late next spring.
