Grand Strand Regional Medical Center held its annual marathon flu clinic Wednesday to immunize all hospital staff.
Hospital staff never knows who will be walking through their doors. That's why the hospital requires all personnel to be vaccinated against the flu or wear a mask to work during flu season. "Its good for the patients and its good for me because we could be bringing things to them and they could be bringing things to us. Its a two way street," said Rudethia Gray, a chemistry lab supervisor at GSRMC.
The hospital is encouraging you to get the shot too, because there's something different about it this year. The H1N1 and the seasonal flu vaccine are combined, so only one shot is needed.
Doctors say the flu shot is most important for kids and seniors. There is a higher dose vaccine available for seniors, but it's not being offered in South Carolina.
