Florence Police had to shut down a portion of West Evans Street on the first day of school because of a wreck involving a school bus.

The accident happened just after 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers on scene told us the school bus pulled out in front of a pickup truck and it rear-ended the bus.

The driver and all three students on board are okay.

Emergency crews used the jaws of life to cut the driver of the pickup out of his vehicle, but we're told he's expected to be okay.

Florence Police are investigating the crash, and we're told they've charged the bus driver with failure to yield the right of way.
