NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP) -- A barn fire has killed about 180 hogs on a farm in South Carolina.

Kevin Satterwhite estimated the loss from Friday's fire at his family's farm outside Newberry at $75,000. The fire happened in the smallest hog barn at Satterwhite Farms about 40 miles northwest of Columbia.

The animals belonged to Orangeburg Foods. Company controller Bill Barrett said the barn held about 600 hogs and the rest were moved to another location.

Satterwhite is a volunteer firefighter for the station that responded to the blaze and said his family will try to figure out what caused the fire but there will be no official investigation.
