(AP) -- An emergency management official in central South Carolina says high winds have caused some damage to mobile homes and knocked down trees.
Lancaster County Emergency Management spokesman Stephen Blackwelder said Monday nearly a dozen mobile homes were shifted off their foundations and a barn lost its roof in the storm that hit between 2 and 3 p.m.
Several violent storms crossed the state, bringing warnings for heavy rains, dangerous lightning and high winds. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Sumter County in the central part of the state in early evening.
No funnel clouds were reported, but the weather service forecast straight line winds of more than 60 mph.
