NewsChannel 15 has learned Marion County Board of Education appointed Michael Lupo as interim superintendent of Marion district two, which is the Mullins school district.

Lupo is also superintendent of Marion district one.

Officials tell NewsChannel 15 Lupo will oversee both districts until district two is able to hire a superintendent at the end of the year.

In January, Marion district two superintendent Nathaniel Miller resigned after being arrested for embezzling more than a half a million dollars from the district.

Miller is accused of using that money to pay mortgages, his children's rent and their college tuition.

Officials with the state Grand Jury tell NewsChannel 15 Miller is expected to be indicted sometime this year.

He remains out of jail on a $75,000 bond.
