Press release - Curtis William Wright of Darlington, South Carolina, was sentenced last week in federal court in Florence, South Carolina, for possession of child pornography.
United States District Judge R. Bryan Harwell of Florence sentenced Wright to 120 months, and three years supervised release. Wright was also ordered to participate in a sex offender treatment program and ordered to register as a sex offender upon his release from imprisonment.
Evidence presented at the guilty plea hearing established that last July, a computer shop reported to the Darlington Police Department that Wright had rented a computer for a month, then returned it containing images of child pornography.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Wright's residence and found computer discs containing approximately 3,000 pornographic pictures of babies and young children. Wright was interviewed and admitted he had viewed and traded child pornography for the past five years.
The case was investigated by agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II of the Florence office handled the case.
